Support HR-6252!!
I decided to support the bill HR-6252 which would end the so called "recycling" of our old electronics. I did my part in supporting the bill by emailing a letter to my area's representative. My representative's area would be in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I plan on posting this link to support this bill on my Facebook page and my twitter in order to get word out about this bill being passed. Go green or go home.

Footprint Calculator
In my footprint calculator result, it said that I would need 4.6 earths worth of resources to support me. Most of those resources would go towards food and towards services. To support my lifestyle, it would take up to 20.5 global acres. Most of those acres would go towards energy land to support my electricity use. A way I can use less of the earth's resources is by consuming more vegetables rather than eating mostly meat. Also by traveling less in my car and by airplane.

Brominated Flame Retardant
Brominated Flame Retardant are not mined, but they are man made materials that are put into many electronics and household furnishings you use today. Brominated Flame Retardants are used to help the product not catch on fire as easily as it would before the flame retardant. When ever your phone gets warm after being charged or used, the brominated flame retardant keeps the phone from combusting and blowing up. So in a sense the brominated flame retardant is needed in order to be able to keep our cell phones. Brominated flame retardants are hard to break down and for their disposal, they are released into the environment. There are many types of brominated flame retardants, but depending on which one you have it will have a different type of toxicity to it.

Electronic Waste
Electronic Waste is something that pollutes our world faster than any other type of waste. Before the lecture we had in the LSC room, I had no idea that electronic waste could have such a huge impact on our society. During the lecture a topic of electronics around our house that are broken or not in use are considered electronic waste. I did not know that if I didn't use something in my house, but left it in the attic or basement made it electronic waste. I wonder if there is a way we can recycle electronic waste and use it for the better of our world. Next time I want to dispose my broken electronics, I will look for a more eco-friendly way to dispose of it.

1. Social justice is justice exercised within a society, particularly as it is exercised by and among the various social classes of that society. A socially just society is based on the principles of equality and solidarity, understands and values human rights, and recognizes the dignity of every human being.[1][2][3]

2. Social Justice, also known as economic justice, is a term describing the redistribution of wealth for the common good of all. However, this comes at the expense of wage earners and liberty by demanding a society to conform. Those who work and have must give to those who don't work and don't have.

Social – “living together in communities or organized groups”
Justice – “the upholding of what is just, especially fair treatment and due reward in accordance with honor, standards, or law” (American Heritage Dictionary). Combining these two concepts, an apt, working definition might be, “Social justice exists when people get what they are due from their particular group or community.” Conversely, a social injustice occurs when people do not get what they deserve.

1. When searching these three definitions of Social Justices, I saw a pattern of equality in all three of the definitions. Even though the wikipedia definition is more on a social level, while the conservapedia is more on a economic level, both stress the fact that equality is key to have social justice between all levels of social/economic groups. According to all three definitions, the goal of social justice is to keep everyone equal and not to have one person have more privilege than the other.
2. After searching these definitions of social justice and reading the story about the people of Omelas, I noticed that the level of equality is not apparent in the story when they are talking about the young child being beaten in the dark room. Social justice is about every person having the same/equal rights as any other citizen, but in the story the young child experiences social injustice while everyone else gets to have a "joyous" life in the city.
